Circulation Rules
Only Registered Members can borrow general, textbooks, from the Library on production of their institute Identity Card at the circulation desk. Each book issued to the user(s) must get a proper gate pass which they have to surrender at the checkpoint to the security.
The Library provides the following circulation services:
Registration of new members.
Issue/Check-out
Return/Check-in
Renew
Reservation/Hold
E-mail Alerts on every transaction and overdue alerts to users.
Issuing NO DUES certificate to the users.
Circulation Hours (Check-In / Check-Out / Renewal):
Monday - Friday : 9:00 AM to 7: PM
Saturday : 9:00 to 5:15 PM
All Sundays there will be NO Circulation.
General Rules (Circulation Section):
The user shall not write upon, damage or mark any book belonging to the library.
The user responsible for any damage caused by him/her to the books or any other property belonging to the library, shall be required to pay the penalty imposed upon him/her by the Librarian.
The Security Guard at the library gate will check all personal belongings including library books issued to a member.
The reader should check the books before borrowing to ensure that these are not damaged. If a book is found to be damaged or certain pages are missing, the borrower should get this statement recorded on the book, otherwise he/she shall be held responsible for the damage, discovered at the time of returning the books.
Issue/ Return Procedure: Check-out/ Check-In/ Renewal
User will bring the selected books along with his/her ID Card and filled Book Card to the circulation desk.
After verifying the ID card of the user and Book Card, the Circulation staff will Checkout the book(s) and put Due Date stamp on the Date Slip with his/her initial.
With issued books, the circulation staff will also provide system-generated gate pass slip(s) to user.
The user will show the books and submit a gate pass to the Security Guard.
For Check-in, the user will bring books to the circulation desk and the Circulation staff will return them from the user account, cut the due date from the Due Date Slip and staff will place the Book Card in the Book Pocket.
The user can renew each title two times only if the book is not reserved by another user.
Renewal & Reservation :
Renewal Facility:- Two time Renewal facility is provided to all the Library members before the due date of the Book(s).
Book Reservation Facility:- A user can avail ‘Book Reservation Facility’ when all copies of a title are checked out (i.e. not available on the shelf) from the library.
Reserve/Hold the book/s through the online catalogue, using the "Place hold" option.
The reserved items should be collected within 24 hours, the reservation will stand cancelled and the item will be issued to another immediate member.
Email Alert Services:- The various Email alerts (like check-in/check-out/renewal/reserve/book overdue etc.) are sent to Library Members on regular basis to keep the user up to date. Apart from this, the library also sends various updates/notices/circulars etc. to the Library members through an official email ID to keep them informed.
Documents that can be borrowed:
General books can be borrowed by all eligible members as per their entitlements. Textbooks will only be issued for 10 days.
Documents that cannot be borrowed:
Reference Books, Theses, CDs and loose issues/bound volumes of periodicals will not be issued.
Fine Overdue:
Items that are returned after the due date are considered overdue.
General Books - @ Rs. 2/- per day per book up to 15 days and after 15 days it will be calculated @ Rs.4/- per day per book.
Text Books - @ Rs. 5/- per day per book.
Recovery of Books Lost by Member:
Lost book(s) should be replaced by the same or latest edition of the book with overdue charges.
In case, it cannot be replaced then the following norms will apply:
